While visiting a life long friend I stumbled upon these gems. My buddy told me “My kids always give me a hard time about saving everything, but this is one of the times I’m glad I did!”
I hadn’t seen my good friend Shack in 23 years, but it was like we had always been there. Old friends die hard. You see, the small island I grew up on bred lifelong friendships and the band of heathens I grew up with was and still is a tight knit group. Once an island boy always an island boy. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been gone. You can still slide back in just like you’d never left…….
When I was doing my prison stint back in the early to mid 90’s quite a few of my island childhood friends wrote, sent money and helped keep my spirits up. That’s what real friends do……All the other letters are gone, but here are a few relics that allowed me to look back into my soul at that particular moment in my life. It made me laugh, reflect and even tear up just a little, and this is the reason why I wanted to share them with you…….

This last one is a comedic interpretation of what to expect from your loved one when he or she is released. Read it, it’s hilariously true!

I’m not proud of my past, but it is what it is and is what has made me the man I am today. And that IS something I am proud of!
